r/Herpes is where PositiveSingles gets talked about on its own terms, in threads people start themselves to ask whether the app is worth it or to share what happened when they used it. The two threads this site read in full, from February 17, 2026 and November 15, 2021, are both like that.
The name also surfaces outside that community, in subreddits with nothing to do with dating advice. One, an adult-content subreddit, carried a thread titled plainly PositiveSingles review
that asked whether other users ran into fake profiles or pressure. The original question (good or bad experience, fake profiles) went unanswered on topic. The visible replies recommend unrelated dating sites instead, one through a link-shortener; this site did not follow that link and does not treat the thread as evidence about PositiveSingles itself. This site did not link that thread or use it for any of the counts on this page, since none of its visible replies actually answered the question it asked.
What Reddit praises
The recurring praise across these threads is meeting someone real. In the November 15, 2021 thread, the original poster describes a positive experience meeting people through the site; one reply answers simply, I met my wife there
In the February 17, 2026 thread, a separate reply describes meeting a girlfriend the same way, while noting that most people who share an HSV diagnosis still default to regular dating apps out of caution rather than joining a dedicated one.
The shared-diagnosis framing itself gets credit too, though this site found it concentrated in one thread rather than spread across both: in the November 15, 2021 thread, the original poster and one reply both describe being able to discuss the condition openly with a match from the start, without the separate step of disclosing to someone who might react badly. That matches what this site’s App Store review sample called out as a community-support theme, from a different source read on a different day.
What Reddit complains about
The complaint that shows up most is a small, unevenly spread pool of other members. One reply in the February 17, 2026 thread counts about four other members in their whole country; another in the same thread claims the app works best in the US and the UK specifically. This site has no first-hand data of its own on member counts by country, so neither claim is confirmed here, only reported as what that thread says.
A second complaint is specific to women seeking women: one reply describes there’s a huge affinity for unicorn hunting if you’re a woman loving woman
, meaning male users pushing to be included in a match between two women. That is one thread, one reply, not a broad finding, but it echoes a similar complaint this site read in a completely separate App Store review sample.
A claim checked against the site
One reply in the February 17, 2026 thread ties good results to being a paying member, alongside living in a larger metro area. The paying-member part checks out against how this site reads PositiveSingles’ own plans: a free account can browse, send winks and reply to a message someone else starts, but sending the first message needs one of the paid plans, $29.95 and up on the website read September 21, 2026. The Reddit claim and this site’s own reading of the plans agree on that point. Neither source says anything about metro-area member counts that this site can check.
What Reddit cannot tell you
Two threads, read September 22, 2026, span November 15, 2021 to February 17, 2026, more than four years apart. People who post about a dating app on Reddit are also a self-selected group: someone thrilled enough to share a story, or frustrated enough to ask a question, not a random cross-section of everyone who has an account. Reddit’s public data endpoints refused this site’s automated requests outright, even though the thread links themselves are public, so these two threads were read through a browser instead of pulled directly, and a few reply chains stayed collapsed behind a "more replies" link that wasn’t opened. Treat the counts and quotes above as what two specific threads said, not as a survey.
