What that means in practice is narrower and more useful to know. On the free tier, No. Standard Members cannot start new conversations. However, you can reply to messages from a premium MEMBER at no additional cost. Messaging remains available as long as at least one person in the conversation has an active Premium membership.
Premium is what removes that restriction. The 41 privileges below come with the same membership and cover a wider range: visibility, privacy, support, and how the account looks and feels.

Matchmaker
Matchmaker is not one of the 41 privileges above. The privileges screen lists it as its own standalone service, described in its own words: Your personal matchmaker (results-driven matchmaking).
The pitch is for members who would rather not do the searching themselves: Helping you get higher-quality first dates with less effort. Perfect for members who want a more hands-off experience.
It also includes a private support group: Private support group to help you get the most from your matchmaker.
The privileges screen shows no price for Matchmaker, and this site did not open the Matchmaker page itself, so none is printed here. If you want it, expect to ask.
What it costs
Premium runs on the same three plans as the rest of the site: $29.95 for one month, $59.95 for three, $95.95 for six, read from the website’s own upgrade screen on September 21, 2026. The app charges more for identical terms: $33.99, $69.99, $109.99.
The one-month plan doesn’t show up as a flat total on the upgrade screen. It’s shown as $7.49 a week, the same $29.95 a month written differently.

Is it worth it
Premium is worth paying for once you want to choose who you talk to instead of waiting to be chosen. Messaging alone justifies $29.95 for most people who are seriously dating rather than browsing, and the visibility privileges, seeing who already likes you, wider filters, priority recommendations, stack the odds further once you’re paying for it anyway.
It’s a harder sell before that. Some of the privileges are purely cosmetic: Customize Chat Wallpaper, Exclusive Emojis, and Animated Winks. None of that helps someone who’s still deciding whether dating with an STI on this particular site is right for them, and that decision is worth making on a free account first. If you’re mainly using PositiveSingles to read Blogs or the Anonymous STD Q&A before committing to anything, stay free until that changes. Once you’ve decided to pay, six months at $15.99 a month is the better deal than re-upping every thirty days.
